I think for the money brad wants to raise, fibbers is not an option
there is plenty of other venues around york. Some which may even do it for a very cheap price since it is charity

I agree, Fibbers is far too expensive. There are loads of smaller, less well known places in York that play live music. The majority of them will rent you the place for free, or at a reduced rate, as this gig will bring in new customers. (hopefully)
Theres a place in York, only small but could be an idea for a small fund raising gig. It's called Williams, near Monk Bar. The will pay you £30 to play there, if you can bring in 30-100 people. You get the entire upstairs (not all that roomy) go check it out Brad. You really need to research into a number of venues, and preferably extend the gig over several nights.

However i am considering changing fibbers for obvious reasons but if i were to change it.
The 2 things that matter to me are.
1) The Size 2) The P.A.

To pull this off, even slightly, you need to listen to as much advice and help from professionals. If not, with your inexperience, you'll waste more time and money trying to organise it. I agree with Andy, the money is the most important, you might find a huge venue, with awesome PA that charge you a bomb and you make no money at all.

*shrugs* you need to do loads of research into venues, there are loads. You just need to find them.
